A TEAM of local firefighters went to Japan earlier this week to help with the rescue effort after the earthquake and tsunami.
Neil Fritzsche, Andy Ford, Steve Hogg, Chris Jefferson, Chris Lowe, Alun Roberts and Shaun Yates make up the Lincolnshire search team.
In the latest update, which was received yesterday (Thursday), they had completed the search of the town of Ofunato and had moved to Kamaishi.
This is close to the area worst hit by the tsunami and around 200km from the nuclear power station at Fukushima.
A spokesman said: “All the team are fit and well, though obviously the work is tiring.
“Unfortunately to date they have not located any live casualties from the debris.”
The only injury reported from the UK team was to one of the dogs, which suffered a cut. It is now well enough to continue searching.
