LINCOLNSHIRE Fire and Rescue is urging homeowners to fit smoke alarms in their homes as a New Year’s resolution.
The fire service is appealing to those who do not already have life-saving alarms fitted on every floor of their home to ensure they install one. It is also stressing the importance of testing all alarms regularly.
Community fire safety manager Keiron Davey said: “You are more than twice as likely to die in a fire at home if you haven’t got a smoke alarm.
“A smoke alarm is the easiest way to alert you to the danger of fire, giving you precious time to escape. They are cheap, easy to get hold of and easy to fit.
“Make a resolution and help keep your home and family safe in 2011.”
