CADETS from Grantham could soon be learning to fly in a flight simulator following a donation from Lincolnshire County Council.
Coun Ray Wootten put forward 47F Grantham Squadron for a community donation and last week handed over a cheque for £250.
The award made to the squadron was accepted by cadet Ashley Bates who started with the squadron earlier this year.
The donation will be used for a new project the squadron has to develop a flight simulator to promote the flying activities the cadets take part in.
During his visit Coun Wootten, who is a former Royal Marines cadet and served with the RAF, was given the opportunity to fire the cadet target rifle on the squadron’s indoor range and scored an impressive 75 out of 100.
Ray said: “It was good to see the cadets and they made me feel very welcome.
“To fire a weapon after 45 years and get a decent score was also fantastic.”
