The River Witham running through Colsterworth has burst its banks, sending a deluge of water into the village.
These pictures, tweeted by John Pilgrim, show the extent of the flooding in the village, which is in danger of entering homes.
John tweeted: “School lane impassible, cutting off the residents, if the water rises any higher 2 cottages are at risk.”
As reported by the Journal earlier today, a flood warning – meaning flooding is expected, immediate action required – has been issued by the Environment Agency for properties near the River Witham in the North Witham area. Click here for more.
Meanwhile, Allington Road at Sedgebrook is closed at the request of Lincolnshire Police, due to flooding under the railway bridge.
A diversion will be in place via the A52 and B1174 (Great North Road) and Gonerby Lane Allington until further notice.
