Former employers raising cash for injured Jamie ahead of fund-raising football game

MORE people and businesses have come forward to support fund-raising efforts to help the family of injured Jamie Bates.

Jamie, 20, of Sandon Close, Grantham was injured in an accident last summer, suffering serious head injuries. His friends and work colleagues have rallied to help his family be by his side at a specialist hospital in London.

Jamie is well-known in town as a former hairdresser at Headroom on the corner of King’s Walk and Guildhall Street in Grantham.

Last week staff there began a collection for Jamie’s family and were amazed by the response.

Helen Faukes of Headroom said: “He is a lovely, lovely lad and was very popular with the customers when he worked here.

“We put a collection tin out and on the first day we had people putting £20 notes in there. If anyone would like to donate anything and they are in town then they can just pop in.”

A fund-raising football match will be held on Wednesday (Feb 2) at Harrowby United’s Dickens Road ground - kick off 7pm.

A sponsored walk will be held on Sunday, (Jan 30) at Belvoir Castle. Log on to the site: www.helpmecontinue.com/support-jamie
