EVERY reader can pick up a FREE portion of chips from Wellies Fish & Chips, in Grantham - only in tomorrow’s (29th July) Grantham Journal.

This is the second week the Journal has run this amazing reader offer in conjunction with Wellies in Huntingtower Road.

Wellies is owned by Dave and Allison Wells, a husband and wife team who have invested more than £80,000 to transform the chippy into what they hope is “the best fish and chip shop around”.

Grantham born and bred Dave said: “People go to the seaside and say what wonderful fish and chips they had. I don’t think the people of Grantham should have to go to the seaside to get wonderful fish and chips.”

Dave has a strong family link to the fish and chips world - his grandfather owned a shop in Vine Street, Grantham, in the 1940s while his father owns one in Bridlington, Yorkshire.

It was while working with his father at the seaside fish and chip shop that Dave met Allison.

The pair are very excited about their new venture, and have sought advice from the man who runs the award-winning UK’s best fish and chip shop.

They have fully refurbished the shop, installed state-of-the-art equipment to ensure consistently best-tasting food, and will use the best ingredients. One thing which makes Wellies stand out is that instead of using palm oil, food will be fried in beef dripping, adding to the taste.

Northerners and southerners will be familiar with some of the specials included on the menu - Yorkshire fish cake and pea fritters. Plus, fish specials will be available on Saturdays.

Fish is made to order and customers can order in advance by calling 01476 405295.

l To get your FREE portion of chips, simply cut out the voucher in Friday’s Journal and take it along to the fish and chip shop.

The voucher is valid for tomorrow (Saturday, July 30) only.Wellies is open tomorrow between 11.30am and 2pm, and 4.30pm to 9pm.
