DEDICATED fund-raisers did not let the pouring rain put them off doing a sponsored walk on Friday.

Anne Clark, Bernard Hare, Sue Kelham, Margaret Shafto and Anne Brett (pictured left to right) donned their waterproofs and headed off on a walk in the area, raising £164 for the Thames Road Gardening Club.

And they didn’t stop there. On Bank Holiday Monday, the club held a summer fair with all the usual attractions, raising a further £188.

Secretary to Thames Road Social and Gardening Club Anne Clark said: “All in all we raised a fantastic total of £425.”

The gardening club works hard to maintain a colourful garden at the Thames Road Community Centre in Grantham, and it recently came first in a district-wide garden competition. The centre exists for all the residents in Thames Road, and the garden is an integral part of it.

Recognising its importance, a number of local businesses have supplied power tools.
