Bad weather was not going to stop youngsters at a Grantham nursery raising money for Sports Relief.

On Friday the unusual sport of welly wanging took over at Serendipitys, formerly known as Bambinos Day nursery, on North Parade.

The nursery had previously planned to hold the fund-raising event at Wyndham Park, but the rain forced them to stay inside. Nevertheless, the tots enjoyed throwing their wellies as far as they could inside the nursery.

Manager Sam Waite said: “We raised £120 in total. All the children took part and parents came to support their children.”

The nursery has been renamed after coming under new ownership. The new owners already have four other nurseries in Bingham, Balderton, Cotgrave and Newark.

Sam added: “They have made some very positive changes since arriving, with further structural changes being implemented soon. The pre-school room will be split into two rooms, allowing both pre-schoolers and toddlers to have their own space. The staff have remained the same.

“Anyone wishing to come and see us, can just pop in or give us a ring on 01476 573030, or check out the website www.serendipitys.co.uk”.
