MEMBERS of a Grantham-based choir get together on Friday, November 18, to record a special song to mark the 80th birthday of Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

The Choir Invisible, the UK’s official Desmond and Leah Tutu Peace Choir, plans to honour the archbishop with a recording of his favourite song of all time, a Sotho hymn called Hakeleje.

Choir director Sally Brown has invited the Harlaxton Collegiate Choir to take part in the event, which will take the form of a singing workshop and concert.

The evening will open with a singing workshop featuring short South African songs.

Then there will be a performance of South African gospel singing.

The concert will be filmed and sent to Archbishop Tutu as a birthday surprise.

The concert takes place at Harlaxton College at 7.30pm on Friday, November 18.

Tickets, at £5, are available from www.wegottickets.com/event/141395 and must be booked in advance.
