Asda in Grantham is set to relaunch its new look store at the end of November with a number of changes including a gluten-free bakery and a ‘click and collect’ system for shoppers.
The store has announced today that its 56,000sq ft store will be one of two stores in the chain to become a test bed for its “store of the future” model.
By remodelling the existing space Asda is making major refurbishments across its key departments including a new food hall, health and wellness area, a nail and beauty station, and a new style café with food lines starting from £1 such as take away pizzas and hot dogs.
The store’s gluten-free bakery will make a freshly baked ‘free from’ range which will include Asda’s tiger bread loaf, croissants, bagels and teacakes.
The retailer is introducing a new click and collect option which will allow customers to pre-order on line and pick up from the collection point in the store’s car park without having to leave their car. There will also be an in-store collection point for products ordered online from extended ranges.
The health, wellness and beauty department will offer extended ranges introducing new brands including Bourjois, Clarins and Estee Lauder.
The baby and kids department has been expanded with new ranges including frozen baby food. The frozen food comes in cube form and can be heated in the microwave or on the hob.
Grantham store manager Dean Parker said: “It’s really exciting that this store has been chosen by the business to test out a range of new innovative ideas and trial various formats which will show our customers a glimpse of the supermarket of the future.”
“We’ve worked hard to ensure that the store accommodates the needs of all our customers and I’m sure they will enjoy the new shopping experience.”
