Celebrities mingled with almost 200 guests at the 13th annual Naomi Fund Ball and raised £8,250 for charity.
The ball, held at Belton Woods Hotel, was attended by Coronation Street star Jimmy Harkashin, who plays Dev in the soap, the current undefeated WBO Intercontinental boxing champion Bradley Saunders and former super middleweight British and European boxing champion Herol Bomber Graham.
A boxing glove donated by IBF and WBC World Champion Carl Froch fetched £1,750 in the auction and other auction prizes included a framed signed Sir Tom Jones 45rpm vinyl record, a six nations past and present England rugby shirt and a Raymond Weil watch. Mr Harkashin donated a trip for four people to have a meal and meet the cast of Coronation Street which raised £750.
Ben Benbow, who started the ball 13 years ago and is owner of the Menz Room in Grantham, said:”It was an absolutely fantastic night. We have raised nearly £11,000 this year which is very good.”
Namoi’s mother and father Michelle and Dean Fardell hold the ball every year in memory of their daughter who was born in 1997, but died a few years later after a number of health issues.
Dean said: “Next year is the biannual bike ride from Great Ormond Street Hospital to Grantham and Naomi would have turned 18 years old so we are looking at a putting even more into the event.”
Proceeds from the fund go to Great Ormond Street, Heartlink Glenfield and The Kingfisher Ward and Community Team at Grantham Hospital.
