Bank staff at HSBC in Grantham have raised £23,500 for cancer sufferers by taking part in a range of fund-raising activities.
The money was handed over to the Macmillan Cancer Support charity at an area meeting of the company in Grantham.
Roger Graves, manager of the town branch of the bank in Westgate, spearheaded the charity campaign with events which included coffee mornings, raffles, quizzes and a soprano evening.
The biggest fund-raiser was a 231-mile sponsored bike ride which generated £10,303.
After presenting the cash to Tanya Taylor, area fund-raising manager for the Macmillan charity, Mr Graves thanked customers of the bank for the support they had given to the effort.
He said: “Tanya was over the moon with such a large donation. She heaped praise on all the effort and hard work that everyone had done.
“And she also went on to say that it was sufficient to provide a Macmillan nurse for a full six months.”
Mr Graves was later presented with HSBC’s area community award for the initiative - he was presented with it by the company’s area director Paul Sargent.
