A Grantham woman with more than two decades’ experience as a senior personal assistant and event organiser is making her skills available to the area’s business community.
Debbie Firmstone has launched a new virtual assistant service, called The Alternative PA.
Debbie, who says her expertise can be used as a one-off or on a regular basis, said: “It’s very rewarding helping small businesses to grow and stand out, enabling them to operate more efficiently and use a service like mine to free up time to look after current customers and win new ones.
“It’s a cost effective way for a business to secure valuable help, just paying for the service they receive with no recruitment needed.”
She set up her business with help from South Kesteven District Council and Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce. She has organised exhibits such as the Country Living Association’s Game Fair and Country Living magazine’s annual fair.
Advice from district council-funded business adviser Paul Parkinson has helped her launch cost effective and flexible services ranging from diary, invoice and supplier management to creating and updating databases and booking travel and accommodation.
The service extends to social media promotion and analysis, business conferencing, wedding, party or christening organisation, producing PowerPoint presentations and even organising product launches and photo shoots.
For busy individuals, the offer covers lifestyle management and personal tasks such as buying gifts, dry cleaning, booking restaurants and events, house moving, researching cheaper utility companies, paying bills, organising family parties and even dog walking!
She added: “ “Mr Parkinson gave me some great ideas on how to market the new business and get the word out to potential customers. He is an expert on websites and he had great advice on using metadata to better effect on mine, which he actually liked.”
