A chef who ensures staff and service personnel are well looked after at the barracks in Grantham has been honoured for his outstanding work.
David Lake, who has worked at the Prince William of Gloucester Barracks on Somerby Hill for 24 years, received his award from TV personality Ben Shepherd, who co-presents the What’s Cooking series on Channel 4.
Senior head chef David won the chef of the year award at an awards ceremony at the Magna Centre, Sheffield, for employees of contract catering company Elior.
Elior employs more than 11,000 people in the UK and David is part of the 80 strong Elior team in Grantham, providing catering and other services for the MOD and was nominated by his site manager, Kay Freear.
The head judge said David combined the highest levels of culinary skill, creativity and flair with a tremendous passion for service and teamwork, encouraging and mentoring his team with innovative training that continues to enhance the food service to the client.
David said he felt humbled and honoured by the award and paid tribute to the team and thanked everyone who supported his nomination.
His prize is a luxury cruise down the Nile.
