A GRANTHAM chiropractor will be working to help Olympic athletes during this summer’s games.

Thomas Jeppesen of Living Health in Grantham will be the team chiropractor for Somalia at the 2012 Olympics.

Mr Jeppesen said: “This is an amazing opportunity. Working with athletes, helping them in their strive for increased performance and continual personal bests is an exciting prospect.

“For most chiropractors it is only a dream to work at the largest and most prestigious sports event in the world.”

Mr Jeppesen has already worked at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2006 Winter Olympics. He has also worked with the Leicester Riders basketball team for the past six seasons and worked at the last two World Games.

Abdullahi Mohammed of the Somalia Athletics Federation said: “We are very happy to have Thomas helping the team. We do not have the opportunity to work with professionals like him on a normal basis like many teams, so at an event like this it is extremely important the athletes are able to perform at their best without injuries.”
