Air Chief Marshal Sir Stuart Peach was one of the distinguished guests who attended the SKDC Chairman’s Civic Dinner, held on Friday last week at Belton Golf Club.

The event, hosted by Chairman of the Council, Councillor Ray Wootten, was also attended by Lady Peach, Brigadier David Eastman, Commander 102 Brigade, PWOG Barracks, Grantham Mayor Jacky Smith and Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Lincolnshire, Sarah Robinson.

For this year’s event, Coun Wootten used the occasion as a ‘networking’ event, inviting business figures from the local community to also attend the dinner.

The event was also used as a fund-raising opportunity, helping to raise money for the Grantham Air Cadets.

Coun Wootten said: “I’m very pleased with how the event went. I wanted to do something different this year, so that’s why I decided to make it more of a networking event. I invited a number of business figures from the community, including representatives from Virgin Trains and a former Dragon Den’s success.”

A highlight of the evening for Coun Wootten was when Sir Stuart Peach gave a speech to the guests.

“It was an honour to have Sir Stuart Peach attend the event,” said Coun Wootten. “He gave an excellent speech on the night, which was enjoyed by all.”
