A man sent text messages to his former partner, despite being subject to a non-molestation order.

The order prevented Peter Brothwell, 40, of Portmarnock Way, Grantham, from contacting the woman but he admitted sending a text message to her on Friday night (June 28) after drinking in the town. He was arrested later that night and spent the weekend in custody before appearing before magistrates on Monday morning.

Magistrates said Brothwell had served his time for the offence over the weekend.

Brothwell must pay £85 costs.
