A Grantham man with type one diabetes has completed a 220-mile journey, cycling from London to Paris in three days.
Lee Turner, of Dysart Road, joined a group of 25 cyclists for the ride to raise money for Diabetes UK. So far he has raised £1,165 and hopes to reach his target of £1,350.
Lee, 24, was one of eight riders with diabetes. He has an insulin pump attached to his body so he can use it when needed.
He said: “It went really well. We arrived in Paris at 6pm on Sunday. We took a detour to see the Arc de Triomphe. Riding into Paris was something special.”
Lee said parts of the journey were very tough especially some of the steep hills they had to climb. A doctor also took part in the ride to keep an eye on the cyclists. Lee bought a bike especially for the ride and says he will continue to cycle from now on.
