THIS weekend’s Family Fun Day in Dysart Park is the latest to fall victim to the weather.
Organiser Libby Simpson visited the park on Friday and decided the ground was too water-logged to go ahead.
The event was originally going to be held on Sunday, June 23 before it was postponed because of bad weather.
Libby said: “We had a look on Friday night and the field is sodden. We are juts worried if we get great numbers of people on there it is going to ruin the field and the grass wont grow back.
“Given it’s council property we wanted to be extra careful.”
People who have bought raffle tickets for the event will be reimbursed. Plans are already in the pipeline for next year’s Family Fun Day.
Libby said: “With the Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics coming, we should have know it was going to pour down all summer!
“But we won’t give up. We’ll be there next year.”
