An imaging department at Grantham and District Hospital has become one of only six hospitals across the country to receive an award for operating at a high standard.
The MRI department at Grantham and District Hospital has been awarded an ‘external peer review’ award from the British Society of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (BSCMR), the organisation who promote clinical practice and research.
This award certifies that the department is operating at a high standard, is classed as being in the same league as other major cardiac hospitals and patients can be assured that they are receiving a high quality service.
Cardiologists within the department meet regularly to discuss any discrepancies and take part in regular audits within the department to ensure that quality is maintained.
Chris Bilton, superintendent MRI Radiographer said: “On behalf of the staff and consultants here at the MRI department, we are delighted to have been presented this award.
“It shows that although Grantham Hospital is a small hospital, we are yielding a high quality service, which is only usually seen within large teaching hospitals. It is a testament to the hard work of our dedicated staff who have a very complex job in sometimes difficult situations, and still manage to keep their standards high. I am personally very proud.”
