I was browsing the shop window at the CEX Entertainment Exchange store in the Isaac Newton Shopping Centre with my eight-year-old son when he uttered the word “b*****ds”.
I was about to reprimand him for using foul language when he pointed out that he was reading it from a promotional notice in the shop window. Upon further investigation I found another board with the words c**p and bl***y. I went in to the shop to complain but they have not removed the signs. I have also sent e-mails to the managing agents and to CEX but have had no replies. I find it unacceptable for such language to be used in this way where young children are able to see and read it. I know in the great scheme of things this may seem petty but I thought there were standards that had to be adhered to in advertising. Perhaps CEX could explain why they think it is appropriate to use this language in this way.
