Have your say

I read with interest your lead article on the gradual demise of the Saturday market.

As a relative newcomer to Grantham I have found much within the town that is commendable. But the overriding reason I rarely visit the market on a Saturday is the traffic!

It is less stressful to just sit in my car and drive to Newark or Boston than try to hack through town, fight for a parking space, walk a distance to the market then repeat the process to return home. It makes the whole experience a misery instead of a pleasure.

No one I have spoken to from outside the town would come here freely on a Saturday because the traffic situation is just so bad. The endless closures of key roads and the bizarre routing system around the town is a trial that is best avoided, and, sadly most do.
