WITH Harrison House closing its doors we’re grateful to a Journal reader for these photos showing staff during happier times.

The photographs were brought in by Mrs Ferry of Earlesfield Lane who worked at Harrison House for 12 years during the late ’70s and the ’80s.

The top photo shows staff ready for the Christmas pantomime in 1986 (Mrs Ferry is stood, fifth from the left, wearing peach) while the second shows staff with the Harrison House float prior to the 1987 Grantham Carnival (Mrs Ferry is fourth from the right wearing yellow and her granddaughter is stood in the front row wearing all red).

Mrs Ferry said: “We loved doing the pantomimes and we used to put a float into the carnival every year and usually finished first.”

Mrs Ferry is very disappointed the home is closing as she rated the service there very highly.

She added: “It really is a shame it’s closing because it was one of the best homes in Grantham and still is.

“I can’t believe it, really.”
