A GROUP of hairdressers is organising a fun day on September 30 to raise money for a terminally ill friend.
Colin Ketteringham, 50, is suffering from Multiple System Atrohpy, which is a degenerative neurological disorder.
Before Colin’s condition gets worse his dream is to take his family to Disneyland.
He said: “Over the years my wife, Louise, and I have both worked, we’ve never really taken the children on holiday. Now it’s my last dream to take them to Florida.”
The couple have four children, aged from 8-years-old to 17 months-old; George, Jack, Chloe and Harry.
Colin, who lives in Bourne, was planning the holiday for next year but his nurse advised him to make the trip sooner.
He said: “My condition is deteriorating quicker than we thought. It took me nearly four years to get diagnosed because it’s so rare. They told me in November that I had six or seven years, then in April they said three years.
“This fun day was a total surprise. I can’t express in words the help we have been given and the support and care, it’s fantastic.”
The event, which will be at the Harrowby United Football Club ground, will feature a football match between 17 women from Planet Hair, in Welby Street, Grantham, and a Lions team organised by Sean O’Callaghan.
Giuseppina Guilfoyle is organising the day, which also includes a barbecue, bouncy castle, rodeo, junior football match and much more.
She said: “There’s been an absolutely fantastic response, we’ve raised £120 so far.”
The juniors match starts at 3pm. Entry is £2.50. For more information contact Planet Hair on 01476 562285.
