A supporter of local health services has thanked a department at Lincoln Hospital for its care after he was diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Arthur Whatley presented staff at the hospital with £400. He has been receiving brachytherapy for his condition which was diagnosed over three years ago.

Arthur has also been a big supporter of the Emerald Suite breast cancer unit at Grantham Hospital with his wife Jackie. They have raised thousands of pounds for the unit.

Arthur said the money raised for the oncology department at Lincoln came from a Chinese night at the China
Inn in Grantham, a coffee morning and a stretch and flex event.

Arthur said: “I was diagnosed with prostate cancer after a routine blood test just over three years ago. The staff have been excellent and I just wanted to say thank you for the work they do.”

Arthur has been undergoing high dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy, a powerful form of radiation therapy used to destroy a number of different types of cancer
