A doctors’ surgery in Grantham has been rated ‘good’ following an inspection by the Care Quality Commission.
Inspectors found that the Vine Street Surgery in Grantham is providing high quality, safe, caring and effective care, meeting the needs of the population it serves.
The surgery provides medical care services to more than 7,000 registered patients.
The report highlights several areas of good practice, including:
Staff assessed the needs of patients and delivered care in line with current guidance;
Patients said they were treated with dignity and respect, they were listened to and were involved in decisions about their care and treatment;
Information for patients about the services available was easy to understand and accessible;
Patients said it was easy to make an appointment with a named GP and there was continuity of care with urgent appointments available the same day;
Staff treated patients with kindness and respect and maintained patients’ and information confidentiality;
The practice sought feedback from staff and patients which it acted upon.
Dr David Baker, Senior Partner at Vine Street Surgery, said: “This result shows the hard work and determination by all of our staff to provide the highest quality safe services to all of our patients. Hard work, compassion and patient-centred care has been at the heart of everything that we do and is something that we will continue to build on in the future.”
Practice Manager Mandy Peberdy said: “As a practice we are really pleased that the CQC has recognised the work we do and given us this rating. We continually look at ways of improving our services to all of our patients and are really pleased that the CQC has recognised this in particular with the way we offer proactive, personalised care to meet the needs of our older patients.
“General Practice is facing continuing challenging times with GP recruitment in Lincolnshire being of particular concern and this result demonstrates what practices can accomplish within the county.”
Dr Vindi Bhandal, Chair of South West Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group, added: “This rating is a testament to how General Practice in Lincolnshire is responding to the demands of our patients. It is always good to see that we listen to and make improvements, were appropriate, to the requests made by our patients and that they in turn have said they were treated with compassion, dignity and respect. By involving patients in decisions about their treatment and care really can make a difference.”
