CHILDREN are being given the opportunity to design a bookmark for Grantham Hospice’s Light up a Life celebration.

The service, which this year will take place in St Wulfram’s Church, invites people to celebrate or remember the lives of friends and family by dedicating a light to someone special.

As St Barnabas Grantham Hospice is celebrating its 30th year, the service on Tuesday, December 4 at 6pm, is extra special and children between the ages of five and 11 are being given the chance to design a bookmark to mark the occasion.

The winner of the competition, which is being run by Geeson Funeral Directors, will have their design printed on a bookmark, which will be given to everyone who attends the service.

Assistant fund-raising manager at the hospice Tina Dingley said: “It’s an amazing opportunity for all the children to get involved in the service. I’d like to give a big thanks to Geeson for suggesting the idea and creating the winning bookmark.”

The top three designs, as judged by the hospice, Geeson and the Journal, will also receive prizes of art materials and will appear in the Journal.

To get involved design a bookmark that is 16cm by 4cm and decorate it, but do not use glitter, then send it to Grantham Hospice, 86 Barrowby Road, Grantham NG31 8AF by Friday, November 16. Include your contact details, including name, age, address and contact number.

l If you would like to dedicate a light at the service, contact the hospice. For more information call 01476 513542.
