Poorly children who sadly need to be cared for on the Kingfisher Ward at Grantham Hospital can take joy in watching fish swimming around a brand new fish tank.

Thanks to the fund-raising efforts of Newton the Easter Bunny and his pals Tess Sheehy and Kristy Burks, enough money was raised over the Easter period to buy the tank, which was installed free of charge by Steve Rudd of Maidenhead Aquatics in Lincoln.

Tess and Kristy belong to the PTFA at Huntingtower Primary School. With Newton, they raised money for the ward, the school’s community hall and Grantham Hospice.

Tess said: “To see how all the hard work paid off and the success that Newton the Easter bunny achieved to make nice things happen for worthy causes in Grantham brings a lump to our throats. We are very grateful and proud of everyone who helped us achieve these goals this year and we look forward to Easter 2013 when Newton will take to the streets once more in the hope to help some more of Grantham’s worthy causes.”

Nancy Ellerby, admin support and fish keeper at the ward, said: “All the children gravitate around the fish tank so it’s good for them.”
