Grantham Town Football Club officals handed out season’s good cheer at Grantahm Hospital’s Kingfisher children’s ward.

Community coach Darren Bills, chairman Pete Railton, president Roger Booth and club sponsor John Bromfield of Discount Cabs delivered goodie bags for 30 children aged between three and 14.

A £100 donation was also made to the ward.

The event was one of the first organised by Mr Bills since taking on his new role.

He said: “I am determined to help Grantham Town take a more prominent role in the community and am grateful to John Bromfield for supporting the gifts and donations for Kingfisher Ward.”

Mr Bills is also working to attract more young supporters to follow the Gingerbreads and is set to give away tickets to under-18s outside the Meres stadium before Saturday home games.

He said: “We want to make people more aware of Grantham Town and the part is has to play in the local community.”
