councillor Ray Wootten - whose ward includes the coverage of Grantham hospital – would also oppose any changes made to A&E at Grantham.
He said: “My view is that Grantham should have a fully functional A&E department, nothing more, nothing less. I think it would be a backwards step to reduce services with the town predicted to expand to 60,000 by 2020.
“The trust is in debt by millions, I understand that they are trying to save money but that shouldn’t be at the expense of the patients who need emergency treatment. If I needed urgent treatment I would want to go to the nearest emergency unit that could provide me with the service to enable me to recover. Residents who need emergency treatment deserve the best that the NHS can provide, and that should be at Grantham.”
