New Leicestershire Police and Crime Commissioner Sir Clive Loader says he will work just as hard to reduce crime in rural areas as urban.
Sir Loader, a retired RAF officer and the first Commander-in-Chief Air Command, said: “There are elements of the rural community that do not feel as well supported by the police as they should be.”
But Mr Loader insists his biggest priority will be targeting re-offending.
He said: “If there is one thing I would like to be judged on it is getting at re-offending. If we get at re-offending we get at crime numbers.”
