A photographer and author has published a book which highlights the glorious landscapes of our county.
‘The Lincolnshire Landscape: An Exploration’ is published by Lincoln-based Jon Fox. The book combines accessible and informative text with striking colour photographs taken by the author.
The book is the result of more than six years’ work spent exploring, photographing and researching Lincolnshire’s diverse countryside, covering the whole of the historic county from the Wash to the Humber and from the River Trent to the coast, as well as everything in between.
The hardback book includes more than 240 colour photographs and two maps.
As well as visually impressive, the book also includes information on the natural environment of Lincolnshire, including its geology, water resources, ecology and wildlife. It tells the story of how the human landscape has evolved through time to produce the countryside we see today. The reader is told of people’s perceptions of the Lincolnshire landscape and the main factors and choices that will define its future, including environmental changes, agriculture and the growth of population and development.
The second part of the book looks in more detail at eight distinct landscape character areas making up rural Lincolnshire .
The book is available in bookshops and visitor attractions across Lincolnshire and neighbouring areas, and can also be ordered through Jon’s website at www.green ploverbooks.co.uk, priced £24.95.
