CLASSMATES who had not seen each other for more than 60 years have been reunited.
Twenty-six former Kesteven and Grantham Girls’ School pupils who left the school in 1950 gathered for an exciting reunion at Belton Woods Hotel.
The ladies were pleased to be able to reminisce and share their memories of their years at the Grantham school.
Ruby Stuckey lent a helping hand in organising the reunion.
She said: “It was nice to see some old faces. Although I sometimes had to blink a bit because I didn’t recognise someone.”
Ladies travelled from as far as Kent and Cumberland to be part of the special day, during which they sat down to a meal and had a good chat about the old days.
Ruby said: “We had lots to talk about. It was lovely, and a lovely setting.”
Following the meal, some of the ladies embarked upon a tour of the school, in Sandon Road.
Ruby said: “We didn’t recognise some bits of the school because it has been very much developed.
“We were very impressed by the variety of curriculum and the care of all the students.”
The idea of holding a reunion was born at the 70th birthday party of one of Ruby’s friends, also in the class of 1950.
