LONELY people will not be forgotten at Christmas as a team of volunteers pledge to make sure everyone gets a Christmas dinner.

Each year, Churches Together provides dinners for people who have no-one else to share the special meal with.

Volunteers can provide for 40 people at St Mary’s Church hall and can deliver to up to 30 people. There is a strict criteria, as places are limited for only those who are truly alone at Christmas.

Elderly people are the most unfortunate, said organiser Steve De Visme.

He added: “There are fewer organisations dealing with the elderly this year so we need to make sure sure we reach those in need.”
