Letters & Opinion
Grantham MP adds spin to party policy
OUR MP Nick Boles communicates to his electorate en masse in his occasional journal column, so in the time since my previous letter what have we seen?
1 commentGrantham councillor’s tweet is so refreshing
I refer to your story last week about a councillor who tweeted a message during a full council meeting. What a pleasure it was to see a councillor actually telling the truth. Well put and well said Cllr Ashberry.
Problems with Grantham mail collection
Apart from the long queue often encountered at Grantham Post Office, my problem is the inaccessability of the postbox after hours.
Hospital campaign: We’ll go to No 10 again
In The Journal Letters page on May 4 Linda Jones raised concerns at the ineffectiveness of Shaping Health representatives in opposing changes or cuts to our local hospital services.
Takeaway would be an improvement
Did I misread your report on the site of the Isaac Newton pub?
3 commentsPaul Lewis was a great nurse manager of Grantham Hospital
I am writing in response to the negative letter regarding Paul Lewis’ position as nurse manager, headlined “Staff have a responsibility to move forward” (Journal, April 6).

The Friends of Wyndham Park Nursery School held an indulgence evening on Tuesday, April 24 at the Ramada Grantham.
Band
ITS A DOG’S LIFE – The English Dogs (Journal Youtube Video, April 20) toured Germany and the USA with great success. They released a single, an EP and three LPs, all of which are now very collectable by punk fans and especially by local fans.
Thanks
We would like to thank all the nursing staff of Ward 1 at Grantham Hospital for the special care given to our son Ian.
Thanks
Cliffedale Chandlers Table Tennis Club would like to say thank you to everybody who kindly donated to our club whilst we were bag packing in Morrisons Supermarket on Saturday. We raised £980 which will go towards much needed new equipment for the club. It was a very enjoyable day and the children will benefit greatly from the amount of money raised.
Devastated by Witham pollution
Absolute devastation is the only way to describe my feelings after pollution of the River Witham upstream of Grantham caused the loss of so many wild brown trout.
Many thanks given following Hearing Dogs for Deaf People event in Great Gonerby
ON behalf of the charity, myself and my team of volunteers, I would like to thank Mick Parnham and the Great Gonerby Sports and Social Club, for organizing a charity evening on April 21 in support of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.
1 commentNewton Bunny
I AM writing in response to the wonderful letters in the Journal about Newton the fund-raising Bunny.
Surely Army drivers should be trained with tankers
When I wrote first about the army lorry drivers I did not know they were training to be tanker drivers.
How can hospital services reduce when town is growing?
I READ in the Journal about “Fears for loss of Grantham maternity” then turned the page to another article “4,000 homes for south of town.”
Superb treatment at Grantham Hospital
I have recently been discharged from Grantham hospital after a two-week stay following a major operation.
Football
As president of the Grantham Saturday Football League, I write to express my huge disappointment in the lack of coverage afforded by the Grantham Journal on Beehive United winning the Lincolnshire County Junior Cup last Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Boston United’s ground.
