AT last year’s carnival, Grantham Dramatic Society won the award for best non-commercial float. We were really proud of this and couldn’t wait to take part again this year.

Because it’s such a big ask to borrow a lorry for the occasion, we didn’t want to exploit the goodwill of the company that loaned us a lorry last year – MJ White Transport. However, despite exhaustive efforts, we drew a blank when we asked elsewhere.

Thankfully, at the last minute, Mick and Michelle White, of MJ White Transport, Bassingthorpe, yet again came to our rescue and donated the use of their lorry for the carnival, giving us the chance to defend our title.

We are so grateful to them for making a vehicle available to us, and without the goodwill of local hauliers, there would probably be no floats in the carnival parade.
