Ambulance service consultation in Grantham today (Monday)
Proposals for changes to the way ambulances services are run will be open to scrutiny this afternoon (Monday) at a public consultation event.
The East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) will hold the event in the South Kesteven District Council chambers, in St Peter’s Hill, Grantham, between 2pm and 3.30pm.
As part of its ‘Being the Best’ programme, EMAS plans to reduce its 66 ambulance stations across the region to 13 hubs backed up by ‘community ambulance posts’ and standby points.
Hubs, posts and standby points will total just 131 across the entire East Midlands.
Hubs will be purpose-built and where staff collect their vehicles. Posts would be police and fire stations, and healthcare facilities, where crews can use facilities, while standby points are locations where staff wait for calls.
Members of the public should go along to the consultation event this afternoon to air their views.
The consultation will run until December 17. The full document is available to view at www.emas.nhs.uk or to request a copy, e-mail beingthebest@emas.nhs.uk
