Approval given for Eleanor Cross plaque on Grantham’s Guildhall

A plaque commemorating the lost ‘Eleanor Cross’ has been unanimously approved by SKDC.

The original cross was erected by King Edward I in 1294 to honour his late Queen Eleanor of Castile.

Despite councillors questioning the spelling of Castile in the plans and making the condition that it was checked, the spelling is correct.

The application to place the plaque on the Guildhall was submitted by Courtney Finn of the Civic Society.

The society is asking those wishing to donate to the £7,000 project to email cfinn@talktalk.net
