A TEENAGER repeatedly punched a man in the face in a town centre bar, leaving the victim with a gash to the head.
The court heard how Zac Barker of Harlaxton Road, Grantham, had been to a restaurant with friends and intended to go home at 8pm on the night of the attack.
However, get then got involved in a series of drinking games before heading to Barcode in Westgate.
Barker was dancing with the two male victims when he turned aggressive, striking one in the throat with an open hand. When the second victim stepped in he too was attacked, knocked to the floor and repeatedly punched in the head.
The second victim was left with a one-inch cut to the head which required medical treatment.
Chris Pye-Smith, defending, said: “The defendant is prepared to accept the responsibility. In interview he said it was irresponsible behaviour on his part to get into such a condition.”
Barker, now 20, admitted two charges of common assault.
Chair of magistrates Graham Harman said: “This was irresponsible behaviour on your part and was not acceptable.
“The number of times this bench has to say to people, it’s people like you who stop the law-abiding people of this town from going into town.”
Barker was fined £210 for each assault and ordered to pay £200 in compensation to one of the victims. He must also pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £15.
