Babies create a splash for charity

MOTHERS took their children along to Belton Woods Hotel last week for a charity “Splashathon”.

The backstroking babies took part in a special “Pyjama Party” in order to help to raise money for the unique charity Tommy’s which aims to help tackle miscarriages, premature births and stillbirths.

The Splashathon was a national fundraising event held last week, with Puddleducks of Grantham organising the local event.

The aim was to raise both awareness and funds for the charity.

Puddleducks is a specialist in baby and child swimming lessons.

Nicola Wilson of Puddleducks said: “It was a great day for a great charity and the parents and children really enjoyed themeselves.

“We are just waiting on the sponsponsorship money coming in at the moment but it was a successful day.”

The babies and parents took the opportunity to learn some important livesaving tips.

Nicola explained: “I do lessons with the parents and the children anyway so we took the chance to put on a specialist lifesaving lesson with them. By swimming in their pyjamas we were able to get across basic survival skills if you ever fall into the water fully-clothed.”
