BREAKING NEWS: Search for missing Grantham boy Pierre Barnes is called off
The search for Grantham schoolboy Pierre Barnes has been called off.
Search teams have been scouring the French island of Porquerolles since Saturday in the hope of finding the 12-year-old King’s School pupil alive.
But today, Pierre’s father Stephen Barnes said he believes his son to be dead, but hopes his body will be found so the family can bury him.
Pierre went on a lone bike ride on Saturday and failed to return to a holiday home rented by the Barnes family, of Barrowby Road in Grantham. A storm hit the island soon after.
On Sunday morning, his bike and one of his shoes were found on a coastal path 3km from the holiday home.
