BREAKING NEWS: Up to 40 news jobs will be created at garden centre

A £2 MILLION redevelopment of Belton Garden Centre will create up to 40 new jobs, it was announced this morning.

Planning persmission was granted by South Kesteven District Council last month, and owners have recently put the redevelopment work of the site out to tender.

Plans include a 47,000 sq ft sales area, brand new coffee shop and a parking area. Keeping the developments green will be a top priority, with a Revaro opening roof and full rainwater gathering system two of the planned environmentally-friendly features.

The development will be spread over two to three years to enable uninterrupted trading to continue throughout the reconstruction, and new jobs will be created in as each phase is completed.

Roles will include sales assistants, catering staff, plants people and merchandisers.

Director Graham Elkington said: “We see a fabulous potential for the development of Belton Garden Centre and have been working with the architects for over a year to come up with a plan that will totally fit in with the surroundings and are delighted that the planners have accepted our final submission.”

Graham co-owns the centre with Karen and Stephen Elkington. They took over the garden centre in 2007, and run it alongside Ruskington Garden Centre, which they have owned for 25 years.
