Many may know Granthamian Gary Cant for his photography and former camera and photo shop on Guildhall Street, but less known is his earlier career as a jockey.
Although 73-year-old Gary is very modest about the days he spent in horse racing, he competed in numerous races including at Leicester, Wolverhampton and Ludlow.
However he says he has not been on a horse for about 50 years, instead choosing to move from the saddle to the studio.
Along with snapping in his spare time Gary took photos for the Free Press, including of some very famous faces.
He remembers taking pictures of the Queen on a visit to Melton Mowbray, as well as of Margaret Thatcher during a book-signing.
Now retired, Gary and his wife Janet enjoy exploring the culture of European cities during their holidays.
They have a daughter Penny and son Jason.
