The building of a specialist care home in Grantham got underway today (Thursday) with a groundbreaking event.
The 64-bed facility will stand on allotment land in Springfield Road. Residents from Chandos House, in Gorse Road, will be moved to the new build and the current building closed.
Forty-eight of the beds will be housed in a dedicated dementia care unit. The remaining 16 beds will be for short-stay and intermediate care.
Leader of Lincolnshire County Council Martin Hill was invited to break the earth yesterday with Peter Loyd, chairman of trustees at The Orders of St John Trust. The venture is a partnership between the trust and council.
Mr Loyd said: “This is a very proud day.”
