Charles hands over his £300 birthday gift

editorial image

GENEROUS Charles Short is a big supporter of the Journal Children’s Fund, so much so he asked family and friends to donate rather than buy presents for his 90th birthday.

Charles, of Princess Drive, Grantham, believes the fund is incredibly important for the community, as does wife Ada who spurred him on to get behind it.

He said: “It’s a good cause and it was the wife’s idea to do this.”

Ada, 85, added: “It’s for local children and that’s the appeal for me. We’re just happy to do our bit to help.”

Thanks to Charles’ generosity, £300 was added to the fund.

Charles’s birthday was not without celebration - a party was held at the Railway Club in Grantham with family and friends.
