Children pay their respects to heroes at Remembrance service
Remembrance service at the Garden of Remembrance, at Grantham Cemetery.
Schoolchildren gathered to pay their respects at Grantham Cemetery on Wednesday during a service at the Garden of Remembrance.
The pupils of St Anne’s Primary School were present at the service, given by the Rev David Shenton, vicar of St Anne’s Church.
Army Cadet Force member Hannah Averill played The Last Post, marking the start of a two-minute silence, after which wreaths were laid, including one by Mayor of Grantham Ian Stokes. Youngsters then placed crosses on the graves of fallen heroes.
The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal was officially launched last Sunday with the opening of the garden of remembrance in St Peter’s Hill.
