A man many will remember for fighting the Highways Agency in a bid to keep his home has died.
Noel Sims passed away aged 81 on Friday after losing his third battle with cancer. He leaves his wife of almost 56 years Shirley.
Noel and Shirley became famous back in 2008 when they fought plans to demolish their home to make way for a slip road off the A1 at Colsterworth. Their home became the subject of a compulsory purchase order submitted by the Highways Agency.
They refused to budge but were finally evicted. The couple went on to set up home in Stainby Road, Colsterworth.
