Could this be the answer to Grantham’s bridge strike woes?

How about this for a solution to combat the regular bridge strikes in Grantham?

Reader Robert Cornforth sent in this photo this week, offering up a suggestion of how we might prevent too tall lorries hitting the three low bridges in the town, in particular this one in Springfield Road.

Mr Cornforth said: “This is a mock-up image of what I think the solution to the problem could be. This includes a couple of lamp posts on the path each side of the road, with a sign in the middle connected via chains.
“Should the lorry driver hit this sign, they will know to reverse back down the road. A few minutes of hassle with them doing that certainly beats several hours of issues which effect the whole town.
“I’m hoping this solution would make the traffic in Grantham run a little smoother.”
