Council works to stop A607 becoming dangerous
A ROAD which sparked safety concerns in May after two serious motorcycle accidents is to be resurfaced by the council - and work will start on Monday.
While resurfacing the 1.5 mile stretch of the A607 west of Denton, Lincolnshire County Council’s highways department will also carry out some tree surgery, signing and drainage work in an attempt to make the road much safer for motorists.
The project leader, Tim Mawson, said: “We want to keep the county’s roads in as good a shape as possible.
“Parts of this carriageway have seen better days, so we’re going in to replace them now, before they become dangerous.
“We should have the improvements wrapped up in a couple of weeks.
“After that, the road should be good for a couple of decades.”
During this time the road will be closed to traffic between 7am and 7pm, Monday to Friday, with traffic diverted via the A606 and the A1.
It will be re-opened as soon as possible each day in an attempt to reduce any inconvenience to drivers.
It will also remain open at the weekends.
