Derek and Nana mark 60 years of marriage with a party at Grantham care home
Diamond wedding Mr and Mrs Copson.
A special party was laid on for two residents of a care home in Grantham as they celebrated their diamond wedding.
Derek and Nana Copson were married 60 years ago on December 27, and the party at Avery Lodge Care Home was a wonderful way for them to mark it together, and with family and friends.
The care home’s leisure and recreational co-ordinator Helen Brown organised the special shindig for the couple with help from colleagues.
She said: “I thought it’s a very special event.
“We have never celeberated a wedding anniversary here at Avery before, and for a 60th...well in this day and age, we will not celebrate many of them.”
A wedding-style buffet and cake were enjoyed by party-goers, followed by a musical treat courtesy of wedding singer Craig Martini.
Helen said: “He really put the icing on the cake for the party, more precious memories for Derek and Nana to cherish.”
Derek went on to give a speech.
Helen said: “He thanked everyone for their presence, and gave his true love a kiss after a toast!”
Derek and Nana were given warm, heartfelt toasts and a selection of celebration cards.
